The Triangle Clean Cities Coalition was founded in 1999 to improve air quality and reduce dependence on petroleum by promoting alternative transportation fuels. By bringing together fleet managers, local and state government officials, fuel and vehicle providers, and interested citizen groups, we are helping move North Carolina towards a more sustainable future.
Triangle Clean Cities staff assists Coalition members to reach their goals by providing grant funding, technical assistance, and networking opportunities for the following technolgies:
- Biodiesel (B5, B20, & B200)
- Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
- Electric
- Ethanol (E10 & E85)
- Fuel Efficiency
- Idle Reduction Technology
- Plug-in Hybrids
- Propane (LPG)
The coalition is led by a steering committee made up of individuals from public and private entities such as utility companies, government agencies, advocacy groups, and alternative fuel related businesses. Each year the committee elects a five-member executive committee made up of a chair, vice chair, and chairs of the coalition's three working groups: Education and Communications, Fleets and Infrastructure, and Public Affairs and Incentives.
